Solutions

Essential industries depend on different fluorochemicals. All of them share the same underlying manufacturing and
supply challenges.

FluoRok’s platform opens new manufacturing routes to established, high-value fluorochemicals for critical industries. Our initial focus is inorganic fluorides, battery materials and valorisation of waste fluorinated organics/polymers.

Inorganic fluorides

A new manufacturing route for established chemical value chains.

Inorganic fluorides such as sodium fluoride (NaF), potassium fluoride (KF) or Lithium fluoride (LiF) are used as finished products or reactive fluorine sources to make pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates as well as advanced materials. Their performance depends on purity: impurities and moisture reduce yields and create unwanted side products, so manufacturers need supply that consistently meets tight specifications. Yet because they are conventionally made from HF, these materials inherit the route’s cost, hazard and concentrated supply.

FluoRok makes high purity inorganic fluorides without any reliance on HF.

What FluoRok changes

Manufacturing

Bypass the conventional HF manufacturing route.

Feedstocks

Access a broader range of fluoride sources.

Economics

Reduce the process and infrastructure burden associated with incumbent production.

Supply

Create the potential to establish production closer to customer demand.

Products

Established materials.
A better manufacturing route.

We don’t rely on markets adopting new products.

We make the inorganic fluorides customers already use, including sodium fluoride (NaF), potassium fluoride (KF) and lithium fluoride (LiF), through a fundamentally different and better process.

The battery industry talks extensively about lithium, nickel and other critical minerals. Fluorochemicals receive far less attention. Yet they are essential throughout the lithium-ion battery value chain.

Electrolyte salts: LiPF₆

In the electrolyte, the fluorinated salt is the key component transporting lithium ions between anode and cathode.
LiPF₆ is the most used one.

Demand

As electrification accelerates, demand for battery fluorochemicals is growing.

Supply

At the same time, production of critical materials such as LiPF₆ remains highly geographically concentrated: >90% is manufactured in China.

Exposure

For the entire battery supply chain including electrolyte blenders,
cell manufacturers and OEMs it creates critical risks.

Establishing competitive production in new regions, especially in Europe and North America, has historically been difficult because of the economics and infrastructure requirements associated with conventional fluorochemical manufacturing.

By combining more flexible, lower cost fluoride sources with a safer, less capital-intensive production route, FluoRok creates the opportunity to establish competitive manufacturing closer to western battery and electrolyte production.

The opportunity is bigger than an alternative source of LiPF₆. It is the chance to diversify where critical battery fluorochemicals are made, at lower cost and lower carbon.

Waste-to-value

Valorisation of waste fluorinated materials.

FluoRok’s waste-to-value platform applies a mechanochemical process to transform waste fluorinated organic/polymers into high-value chemical intermediates.

In Europe alone, over 25,000 tonnes of fluorinated polymer waste are collected annually for incineration at high financial and emissions costs. FluoRok provides a solvent-free, low-emission solution that completely degrades these persistent materials, recovering essential intermediates for downstream battery, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical production while supporting full circularity.
